Noch nie wurde so viel fotografiert wie heute. Kinderleicht zu bedienende Digitalkameras sowie Handys mit Fotofunktion machen es möglich. Aber wie hebt man die Unmengen von Fotos auf? Mitnehmen und herzeigen kann man sie dann aber (noch) nicht. Dafür bieten sich heute Fotobücher an. Die kann man nach Belieben zusammenstellen, vielleicht zu einem bestimmten Thema ("unser Kroatien-Urlaub") oder als Geschenk, etwa Fotos vom Enkelkind.
Analoge Fotobücher: haltbarer als digital
Dateien können ohne ersichtlichen Grund defekt werden oder verloren gehen. Fotografien auf Papier und auch Fotobücher halten fast unbegrenzt. Mithilfe geeigneter Software, die normalerweise die Anbieter von Fotobüchern bereitstellen, lassen sich Bilder seitenweise anordnen und zu einem Buch zusammenstellen. Wie beim althergebrachten Fotoalbum lassen sich die Bilder mit erläuterndem Text versehen.
Breitbandinternet nötig
Die fertige Datei wird dem Ausarbeitungslabor meist übers Internet oder auf einem Datenträger (CD-ROM, USB-Stick, ) übermittelt. Nach einigen Tagen hält man das fertige Fotobuch in Händen. Wer Fotobücher daheim erstellen will, braucht neben dem Computer einen Breitbandanschluss mit hohem Transfervolumen; bei mobilem Internetzugang kann es wegen der großen Datenmengen Probleme geben.
Für ein Fotobuch müssen Sie sich viel Zeit nehmen
In der Praxis kann das Erstellen eines Fotobuches Stunden, wenn nicht Tage in Anspruch nehmen. Fertige Fotobücher schauen mitunter anders aus, als man am Monitor zu sehen glaubte. Ein Grund dafür liegt wohl im verwendeten Werkzeug: Die kostenlose Software ist einfach gestaltet und genügt professionellen Ansprüchen oft nicht. Auch hat der Bildschirm daheim keine so hohe Auflösung, um alle Feinheiten zu zeigen. Einsteiger sollten ihr erstes Fotobuch daher als Übungssache ansehen und für die Ausfertigung eine kostengünstige Variante wählen. Jede Fotobuch-Software hat ihre spezifischen Eigenheiten, mit denen man erst vertraut werden muss. Ein Test bietet hier wenig Orientierungshilfe.
Gedruckte Fotos wirken anders
